Are you ready for success? Check this one out

Jason is steadily starting to establish himself as a decent and go to writer. This one is well worth a look and here is some feedback on what to expect

* Cool stories, ones that I can relate to as these are not necessarily people you hear about as the big entrepreneurs
* Like how the book had consistent questions, this gave a good contrast and comparison
* Ideal length, long enough to have enough people interviewed but not too long that you'd lose people's interest
* Would have been good to see some background on their early lives i.e. a 1 or 2 liner as success can be traced to childhood, parents etc
* page 14 great answer here by Frank on question 8!
* Good to see people from all walks of life including not for profits, male to female ratio is still a bit low however
* Would be good to see more entrepreneurs from outside of North America i.e. Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa

One of the best and most comprehensive books out!

This book covers loads of technical stuff and very well written. This is a technical book so not for beginners or if you want to learn how to mix!

Not so much

Ive read most of this book, many of its chapters Ive read several times

It goes into specifics but not in a fluent manner, for me it seems choppy/without a flow and really tbh it seems as if the authors are trying to be overly technical with EVERYTHING

The physiology of hearing for example. Im no expert but I have taken separate Anatomy and Physiology courses in college. Next to the authors names I havent seen any MD or PHD degrees the reason I mention this is that they go on and on about hearing and I found some of it confusing and (as a specific example) overly technical. They are (it seems attempting?) to go deeper into hearing than any physiology course Ive ever taken has. They also skip over and leave out basic concepts related to hearing in general. It just doesnt seem as if they really know what they are talking about, it is just too wordy and inefficient.

For example: hearing - neurons carry signals to the brain, and each nerve impulse is all or nothing. It either happens or it doesnt, almost binary you could say. it involves the exchange of ions across a cell membrane mainly Sodium Na+ and Potassium K-. There are concentration gradients involved, the opening and closing of channels for ions some of which are specific to each one (Cl-), voltages, it goes on but basically that is alot of what is involved. Never do they mention these things but do (attempt?) to go into more details than any physiology book Ive read on hearing or have ever been lectured on. Its technical but not fluent or thorough. Hard to describe other than it seems as if they are trying to make more of it than there is... or better yet perhaps they dont fully understand the basic principles of nerve conduction and hearing and perhaps think they do and are trying to be technical (again:??? I dont know)... I do know it is VERY wordy and not efficient and arguably not very accurate - strange

I feel this approach is what is happening most of the time throughout this entire book. It is just wordy and overly technical without much of a flow.

I have read most of this book, most of those chapters I have read several times. With the amount of time Ive spent reading it Id say overall it was a waste of time (harsh but true). I have learned more from other books in shorter amounts of time.

I cant say much else about it other than stay away from it (again harsh but Im trying to help) - I do not feel it would even be a good reference book as I havent found a good flow to any of the (most of the) information in it as it seems disorganized and (attempts to be ???) overly/unnecessarily technical in all/most of its approach. Therefore as a reference how could one reference a specific if it is hard to find?

A good "reference" book for the more advanced engineer - not good for beginners

This book is used in several college courses as an introduction to recording and audio principles. There seems to be some sort of "dogma" about this book among engineers and teachers, in a way that it is held in "high regard". The truth is though that ALOT of students have trouble with this material, not just a few. It is unnecessarily wordy and complex in its presentation/description/definitions of beginning concepts and principals.

Most beginning concepts are basic theories which are easy to understand. As one person said in a different review (paraphrased) they are trying to weed out the less serious student, so only the "cream of the crop" succeeds...

If a person has an interest in this subject, they should not HAVE TO be on the path to "ultra pro status" in order to achieve THEIR goals. It is not someone elses choice what you decide to do with your life. Become the best of the best audio engineer, or make a few extra bucks on the side recording demos for local bands, or... Thats your choice, not a jaded instructors!

It is not a good book for beginning students because it may unnecessarily burden the beginner with technicalities. Recording and audio principles can be technical at times, but a solid understanding of the basics needs to be mastered FIRST or else one might feel overwhelmed.

For someone already familiar with the beginning principles of audio and recording, this book might make a good supplementary text for reference, although youd have to do alot of "sifting" through material in order to find/use it.

Note to the beginning student: NOT FOR BEGINNERS! There are other books, ones with very good ratings, that would be far more practical to start out with as an "introduction" and even for more advanced principles as well. Perhaps LATER, this book might make a good supplement(?).

If you are a beginner with little or no experience look some where else and save yourself some pain!

The basics are basic, start there.

About the Author
Justine Alessi is a Master Tarot Reader and Teacher of the Tarot who brings over a decade of practical experience to the table. She has read the cards for people from almost every state in the Union, and word-of-mouth has people seeking her out for her wisdom and accuracy. Justine's uncanny accuracy makes believers out of the skeptical, and those who are initially the most hesitant are usually the first to try to acquire more of her time and talents. A former librarian, her interest in the Tarot was sparked by the parade of Tarot books published in the late 1980's. Feeling there was an inadequacy in the description of the cards, she began to compile her observations from years of readings. Justine is no stranger to writing, having penned many articles on the metaphysical and writing a newspaper column. Justine resides in Northeast Ohio with her husband, Robert and is the mother of two grown children. This is Justine's first book, though she is presently developing several more books regarding the Tarot, positive affirmation techniques and other metaphysical topics.

M. E. McMillan brings life to the personalities in "Rebirth of the Oracle" by drawing on 20 years of creative writing experience. Ever prolific, Betsy works as a biomedical writer by day and spends her evenings and weekends (and sometimes her lunch hours) working on other creative writing projects. She is the author of two other books currently in print and does free-lance contract writing encompassing everything from bioscience to advertising copy. She is an active member of the National Writer's Union, and has appeared as a guest on several radio talk shows in Cleveland, Virginia, Texas, Michigan and Florida. Betsy resides in Northeast Ohio with her husband Jim and is the mother of two grown children. Presently she has several novels and non-fiction manuscripts in various stages of completion.

A great tool for TruthSeekers.

Having known Justine for many years, I am very aware of her ability to cut through nonsense and get to the heart of the matter. That's why having her book mattered. I knew it would provide enlightenment, understanding, and wisdom. I was right! Most people are curious about what is happening or may happen in their lives and Justine's book defines that curiousity simply and clearly, providing answers that might otherwise not be understood. This book goes further than most in making clear the meanings behind these little understood cards. Her book takes them out of the realm of the dark ages and into the light of the New Age. She writes in a manner that most people should be able to relate when applied to this era we live in. That is one of the attributes that makes this book so appealing. It's a must for any TruthSeeker. I loved it. Justine is a powerful force and her book proves it. I am priviledged to have benefitted from her gift of divination and now others may know too.

Enlightenment at it's best!

I have been interested in Tarot reading for many years and buy whatever is new about the subject.Rebirth Of The Oracle by Alessi and McMillan is unquestionably the best Tarot book I have ever read.Reading the Court Cards is a real treat. The depth of understanding these two women have about the significations in Tarot is unparalleled. As I read the Queen of Pentacles,it was as if these women knew me personally !My metaphysical group had a marvelous time reading the significators and applying it to our own lives. The clarity and conciseness of this book far overshadows any of the one hundred plus books I have read on the subject. For any reader,novice or master,this book is a must have!I can say with certainty that this is the only book necessary because every bit of information and any question you could possibly want an answer to is between the covers of this gem of a book.

Self Knowledge

Justine entered my life during the darkest days I had ever known, being a skeptic, I had a reading for a lark. She opened my eyes with her amazing compassion, insight and spirituality and guided me to the path was was in my mind already, but I was unable to open my eyes and see it. Her book shows tremendous compassion and understanding and removes the 'black magic' and 'devil' definitions that so many unenlightened people assume about the tarot. She helps you to interpret the cards to understand yourself and your loved ones in a way that is applicable to our world we live in today. This is a must read for anyone who believes, or is just curious. Learning never ends. She opens your eyes to new ideas, and that will keep you young!

She has worked in English language assessment for a number of years, producing tests and practice materials for learners of English. She also has extensive experience as an examiner and writer of tests, including exam preparation materials for students.

the original edition was good, & therefore

Very little difference with the previous edition - It just takes the changes in the new exam into account - Had expected some new reading passages, listening, use of English exercises etc. for this price, not a rehash. Anyhow, the original edition was good, & therefore, so is this one.
