Quite possibly the best book for Micro (both classes and USMLE)!

I have used many microbiology books to study for my medschool exams (in particular Microbio made ridiculously easy). And I've been getting a thorough understanding through many textbooks. However, Deja Review is the ultimate book for reviewing all the information in a concise and yet still-detailed manner.

For the USMLE, this is a must-have. I told this to many other students, and they have all thanked me for sharing this book. It's money all the way. Microbio is an extensive topic, and this book has many many many chapters devoted to the extensiveness of this subject. Yet, the most important thing about this question/answer format is that they constantly use REPETITION to get points into your noggin'. Lemme say that again, they constantly use REPETITION to get points into your noggin' - they constantly use REPETITION to get points into your noggin' - they constantly use REPETITION to get points into your noggin' ---- see, you get it now.

Great book for USMLE micro

This book is just the perfect supplement for micro and immuno to go with First Aid. Forget made Ridiculously Simple, it's ridiculously too long for what you need. This book looks like it has more pages, it does by number, but the dimensions of the book are much smaller, if it were MMMRS size it would be about ~150 pages. This is perfect with first aid, it covers everything in a great question answer format.

This is a great supplement to First Aid and Goljan.The immunology section is just enough to get you to the level of understanding Goljan and FA without being too much to read. Micro is great too -especially if FA seems to skimpy, Ridiculously Simple is too much to read, or if Goljan seems too scattered. If you need a quick start, refresher or a book to fill in the blanks, buy this one.

He charges that the Reagan administration has compromised the independence of the Solicitor General, the lawyer who is responsible for recommending which cases should be heard by the Supreme Court and for shaping the government's legal position on cases before the Court. Archibald Cox and Thurgood Marshall are among those who have held the post of Solicitor General, sometimes called the "tenth justice." Caplan maintains that Solicitor General Charles Fried and, before him, Rex Lee, acted as mouthpieces for Reagan, pushing his social agenda, which calls for banning abortion, promoting prayer in the schools and ending school busing and affirmative action. A former White House Fellow and author of The Insanity Defense and the Trial of John W. Hinckley, Jr., Caplan implicates Edwin Meese and assistant attorney general for civil rights, William Reynolds, in the attack on the Solicitor General's traditional role. As Senate debate on Robert Bork's nomination gets under way, this dispassionately written study should make news. First serial to the New Yorker.

He focuses on the solicitor general (SG), the individual who argues the federal government's position before the court. Caplan details many developments in the Reagan administration's Department of Justice and compares presentations of the Reagan political agenda to the court by the last two SGs. He argues that the legal positions of the SGs have lost credibility because of their recent partisan advocacy and emphasizes key cases. Concise, readable, and useful

For anyone interested in network traffic analysis, particularly IDS/IPS, this is a unique and valuable book. It does assume a basic knowledge of networking (maybe CCNA level), and mathematical statistics to about 2nd year university.

The book focuses on practical approaches to computing useful estimators, including performance optimisation for real-time analysis. It also has examples of data visualisation methods.

Despite its compact size, the scope of the book is quite broad, ranging from traffic modeling, to user profiling, to viral epidemiology. It describes various attack types. It also covers some useful tools for data acquisition, integrity checking, etc.

I did have to go back to my old textbooks to fill in the gaps in my grasp of probability density functions, but the concepts are discussed clearly.

The only slight criticism, is that commercial IDS/IPS systems have come so far since the book was written, and the scale of the problem has also expanded exponentially. I would like to see a revised edition some time. However, the theory and most of the practicalities discussed still hold, and the book should still be useful for some time to come.

About the Author
Tessa Feller studied German and Spanish at Edinburgh University before training as a teacher and translator. She has worked in several countries, including Austria, Russia, and Germany, where she is now based. She lived in Nepal from 2002 to 2004, when her husband was posted there with the German Development Service (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst). Her youngest son was born in Kathmandu.

Not a bad beginners book, but not perfect

I read this book before coming to live in Nepal for 2 years. I brought the book along with me for referencing. However, I would have to say that the book is best used by tourists because it only runs through the basics. If you know nothing about Nepal and you want a beginners guide, then this may be perfect for you, but if you're going to be spending more time in Nepal and need to better understand of the culture, I would suggest something more in depth. While it wasn't a bad overview, I have two main problems with it...

1.) When we buy a book like this we're looking for generalizations, semi-truths that will help us acclimate to an unfamiliar culture. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, however, some of the generalizations made in the book are regional or sub-culture specific. In Nepal, daily life in Kathmandu is a stark contrast to the country side, and the tourist areas seem to be almost a country unto themselves. Many of the generalizations she made may have been truer for the country side than the city.

2.) Frankly, there are some aspects of the book that I simply felt she was mistaken about. If you're going to be spending a short time here it's nothing you really need to worry about, but I do want to mention it. One example of this is her mention of drug use in Nepal. While there is by no means a country wide epidemic of drug use, there is a significant problem amongst young people in poverty situations in the city, and some studies have indicated that marihuana use (apart from more extreme drugs) is actually quite common amongst young people in the city and larger Nepalese towns. I felt she may have been misleading about this by downplaying it and saying that Nepali people don't really do drugs, or that marihuana is only used for traditional, religious purposes only. This is not exactly the case.

MISSIONARIES: This is not the book for you. While there are some missionaries who do a lot of research about Nepal before coming, most of you don't seem to. Many of you know very little about the culture beforehand, and some of you seem to be entirely misinformed. If you're going to be going to another country that you know little about, and you're going to be trying to alter an important aspect of their culture, maybe you should be doing a lot more in-depth research than this little beginner's book.

I should mention that there were a lot of little helpful facts in this book, it's extremely well organized, and is very easy to read, so I would suggest it to any tourist spending a short period of time in Nepal.

I purchased this book before traveling to Nepal on a medical mission earlier this year. If you only have time to read one book about Nepal-this should be the one! Written by a woman who lived in Nepal for two years,Ms.Feller captures everything you need to know to prepare you for the culture of this fascinating country. Had I not read the book, I would have been unaware of the significance of unusual details i.e. extra long fingernail,body language-sideways rocking of the head,etc. The book is small and easy to pack.

I really enjoyed this book, I have lived most of my childhood in Nepal and I can say that it kept me interested and riveted. I loved reading more about the culture of Nepal and things that I didn't know.
It will be of great help to anyone who is looking to move to Nepal, good buy please read from cover to cover it is useful. Nepal is a beautiful country please don't compare it, take the country for what it is and judge it on its own merits.

The rest of the team had been staying in the same hotel and she and Wayne had decided they needed to remain discreet and not try to sneak away from the others for a tryst. Their affair had been going on in secret for over a month now and they both were enjoying the sex. Wayne asked Sandi to stay in Madrid while the rest of the team flew back to Los Angeles and she had happily agreed. Wayne had become the CEO of a multi-billion dollar enterprise and had to think about perception, especially since they were in the perception management business.

Wayne pushed Sandi over onto her back causing them to separate, but he quickly lay on top of her and guided his firmness inside of her once again. She gasped as he began to thrust into her even as he pulled one leg up and placed it on his shoulder. Sean Brandon has a way of creating these stories that involve people getting in touch with their passionate side while on vacation. His descriptions of the Mediterranean setting makes you feel like you're there and that's saying nothing of how wild and crazy Wayne and Sandi get while staying at billionaire Armando's. If you're into swingers, "Madrid Affair with the Billionaire" is definitely for you.

Everybody like sex. But sex in exotic splendor is even better! I loved the way this story pulled together deep erotic passion with a glamorous atmosphere along the Mediterranean coast.

What begins as a break from a high level corporate conference becomes a decadent swinging tryst in a billionaire's luxurious abode. Julieta and Armando are more than a match for the unsuspecting Wayne and Sandi. Money can buy happiness, it seems, and it can also buy some intense real world experience in pure pleasure.

If you enjoy swinger stories, you'll like this book. The emotional and sensual heat cranks up high between Wayne and Sandi, but it shoots higher still when a new couple enters the picture. This story left me tingly and numb, passing off to my dreams with the gentle warm sea lapping at my ears. Pick it up!

Me decia asi mismo," por que tengo que regalar el dinero que me cuesta mucho en conseguir, y darsela a la gente...Que los ricos ayuden a los demas" Pero yo creo que Dios me mando unos libros sobre el tema y me abrio mis ojos este NO es el mejor libro de Randy Alcorn sobre el tema. Me encanto uno que se llama (managing Gods money... Administrando el dinero de Dios) pero ese libro no lo encontre en espanol.
Este pequeño libro es muy facil de leer y va directo al punto. Nos enseña que todo lo que tenemos es de Dios. Y el dinero y el oro son de El.
todo lo que este libro enseña es biblico.
La razon que nomas le di 4 estrellas es porque no es tan bueno como el otro libro que mencione, pero ayuda a fortalecer el punto.
si eres como yo que cree que es ingusto darle el dinero de tu trabajo a la gente necesitada tal vez este libro no te convesca y tendras que leer mas libros sobre el tema como lo hice yo. Pero una cosa si me queda muy claro si eres creyente. La Biblia, crees oh no en ella? como eres en las cosas de Dios, FRIO. OH CALIENTE?
