Nice book spoiler free review

I played WOW once a few years ago, so I am not too familiar with its universe. I was curious enough to watch the movie, and I surprisingly enjoyed it. But I felt like I was missing a few things, and decided to read the novel to hopefully clear it up. This book was very well written in that it felt like I was watching the movie again with the scenes I felt were missing. It also answered questions I had and gave me a view into the character's heads. It made everything more gray instead of black and white "good vs bad guys." I enjoyed how it gave enough descriptions of everything without feeling like it needed a chapter to just paint a picture of the setting. And while I did like the fact that it didn't spend a large amount of time boring me with descriptions of the characters' travels, I was getting the impression that everything was taking place within a few miles of each other. Like the orc camp was just a few hours walk away from the capital and somehow everyone missed the massive orcs building stuff until a former prisoner guided them over. Other than that, I enjoyed reading this book!

A fun Middle Grade novelization of the WoW Movie

This follows the movie blow by blow with a few additions.
For example, we meet the main mage when he is going through the ceremony to become the Guardian.
You hear the thoughts and doubts of the protagonists, and you could not have picked up the same from the movie.
The book also is a bit more G-rated than the movie. For example, in the movie, Guldar drains the life of an elk to instill life in the baby orc. The book glosses over that.

Rewriting lore.

I don't know whether I just didn't read the reviews (or the description of the book) or what but when I got this today I realized it is a -novelization of the movie-. I loved the movie on its own merit, but I bristled (a lot) over the changes from the original stories written by Christie Golden. And now she's created a whole novel embracing those changes, essentially changing the lore she helped create in the first place. It's just disappointing. :(
